You only learn the value of things, relationships, experiences when it’s gone or taken away from you.
I am and will not be sentimental here because this is a work related post. I just had to share a little insight I learned today.
For a month I worked six days a week, 9 or more hours a day and some late night calls. This was because my colleague was on a vacation and I have to cover up with his work. I was doing tasks for 2 separate functions, his and mine. I was even at work on Christmas which was a first in my entire working life experience.
Saying I was tired, stressed and pressured was an understatement. I supervise our department and I don’t want others to complain or raise any issues (that’s my job as QC
)
And today my colleague resumed work so I was able to enjoy again my regular 2 days rest day. Before I felt that the 2 days were still not enough, I sometimes play hookey or freign illness to have a third day off from work. Looking back, I can manage with a one day off to start with! But even it is a paid overtime, I have to beg off and prefer to enjoy the 2 days rest day.
The best way to appreciate your job is to imagine yourself without one.
Now I can truly say I appreciate my 5 days work and 2 days off.
You can remind me later when I start to whine about it again.

Good Evening from England!
I think you need to demand from your colleague to give his VL to you. Who knows, he might answer YES and will help you talk to your management too.
Yours,
Vicky
My mom always tells me to appreciate what we have and be contented. Good thing you have a two-day rest period. God bless you.
Wow! You’re one super diligent QC. Anyway, I hope you’re able to have more rest now. I can’t imagine working in long hours 6 days a week.. >.<
Just make sure that you’re still eating healthy and taking some rest to avoid being overfatigued.
2 days off is better than one day off .you wil have enough time to rest and enjoy the weekennds but for someone who needs money .they prefer to work 6 days a week.
Yes, it is always good to allot time to rest. It recharges our body for the next week’s toils.
until now im working 6 days a week, when i was still an OFW we love working all the time, getting busy is our priority so we wont miss our family that bad but when I went home and finally working here again in the Philippines it’s quite hard, i want to enjoy my weekends but 1 day off is not enough.. it’s just good for household chores and no relaxation! ;(
I think you just enjoy what you’re doing. Don’t think that it is a job.
inspite of your busyness, dont forget to stay healthy.. enjoy what you are doing and you will be rewarded soon
Not everyone is given equal opportunity to have a decent job. For me, I’d rather work 6 days a week than than having none to get through life at all.
2 days are enough if they are spent right. Just have more fun next.:)
Amen to that!:)
for me you are really a superwoman, with lots of blog to update and a work its really overwhelming
I’d complain too! Lol!… Still, thank God for work!
small things really count.
don’t forget to unwind yourself when you feel like getting tired.
life’s too short. Make it fun! =)
in all, one must remind ourselves that if there are others who enjoy life, then so we must. I share your whining and I too, has been there and done that syndrome. I am happy I can still travel
The best way to appreciate your job is the satisfaction which your clienteles are manifesting and offering back a word of thanks to the Lord for the successful and wonderful days of work.
Yes I agree. We really need to appreciate things in life pero hindi naman talaga minsan maiiwasan na magcomplain. Sometimes I also complain din naman. hehehehhee
Me I work six days a week and I move from 8 am to evening because I have to finish all my works before leaving. It is really tiring but I believe if you lov your job you won’t be complaining anything. However, it is not easy to love my job hahhaha!!!

You know what I always tell myself? Its a good thing I have work. Yun na lang para maremind ko na I need to be thankful.
sometimes we have to experience the worst to appreciate the very small things that we tend to ignore.
If the demand calls for it, just do it with open arms. Rewards will come later when you least expected it. It will come to you soon.
Always appreciate even the smallest thing. Big things always start from small ones.
Cheers!
hahaha!! I can understand where you’re coming from.
Working in a corporate office is very demanding, we have our own challenges and our ways to cope with them
enjoy na lang your remaining vacation days.
tama yuuki, daming walang trabaho… galing naman, 2 days off, sana kami din LOL. i don’t mind extending a couple of hours sa work, as long as i have a harmonious relationship with the people in it. Yahweh bless. http://trunklocker.blogspot.com/2012/01/to-write-or-not-to-write.html
every small good things should be appreciated. the 2 day weekend is something we should cherish. A lot of jobs out there require us to work 6 days a week. Not a lot of businesses realize how important having a good rest means for the employee. It recharges you to get back into be fit to work again. we can’t dedicate our lives working.
I’m working as a nurse in one of the busiest station, in shifts. It’s a blessing to have work.
God bless.
Let’s appreciate the little things that we have, because these might turn into bigger opportunities. Nice read there.
in addition of appreciating little things, is not to expect to much.. ^_^
I hope you enjoyed your rest day.
Tama nga, appreciate the little things because they matter. A lot.
i agree with your last thought, paano nga naman kung wala tayong trabaho, i remember this quote
“What’s the use of being a genius if you can’t use it as an excuse for being unemployed?” – Gerald Barzan
Yes indeed you are so correct we should appreciate what we have.

just enjoy your work, be happy..
as they say you truly appreciate things if you don’t have them or are no longer with you
I can relate to your experience. As an engineer, i work everyday starting around 6:45am and most of the time goes back home at 7pm. Even at very early morning production line people can call us if there is an issue waking you up at around 12 midnight of even worst 3am. You find it hard to sleep again.
You should because there are millions of others who are less than fortunate than you.
