Lenten Sacrifice

Lent is the Christian season of preparation before Easter. Ash Wednesday marks the start of the season of Lent, which begins 40 days prior to Easter (Sundays are not included in the count).

During Lent, many Christians commit to fasting or giving up something as a form of penitence.

Last year I gave up my laziness. I don’t regularly go to mass. I can come up with dozens of reasons not to go but mostly due to my laziness.

This year I have a 3-part-sacrifice

  1. Laziness, same with last year
  2. Something really personal so it’ll be just between me and God
  3. Credit Cards and excessive spending. I know it’ll be a personal gain (later on) but also difficult since I’m going home and need to buy gifts or pasalubongs. Also my birthday, HK Disneyland tour and Holy Week trip to Bora will fall within the 40 days.

It’s gonna be hard!

That’s why it’s called sacrifice.

So, what are you giving up this Lent?

I was just discussing with my kids today about lenten season and fast not only for food. They come with simple sacrifices of their own like No Facebook, no softdrinks, chocolates and so on.:) I think just like the kids, you can do it when you put your heart on it. I know you will. Mine? I would not complain.

wow, credit cards and excessive spending… sarap ng life… well, that’s one thing I will never worry of… sometimes, having no money is a good thing because it’s like sacrificing everyday… kainggit naman, some people must go through holyweek before they sacrifice… hehehe

I’m giving up my laziness this Lent too. I was able to fix every aspect of my life and cleaned up some clutters both in my room and my brain. I hope this will continue even after Lent. Goodluck to you. :)

No particular sacrifice this lenten season.
But will be fasting to ask for personal prayers to be answered.

May you encounter God this season, and not just see it as obligatory to give something up. :)

I did some liquid fasting before, but this year I don’t have an idea what to give up. Maybe I should start giving up on my laziness too.. :) Anyway, good luck and I’m sure you can do it!
