30 Aug
There was a joke that says if you already look like your passport picture you really need a vacation. I think I really need one as in now na! But my passport will expire by Dec 2010 and I can’t (theoretically) use it 6 months prior to its expiry. So off I go to the Philippine Consulate Office here in Dubai.
I took a day’s leave last Aug 24 but I was just asked to list my name for appointment. Then I returned today Aug 30 again for the actual passport renewal. After 3 hours and 3 long queues I just have to wait for my new passport to be couriered after 30 or more days. I choose it to be couriered because I don’t want to waste another day (to be deducted to my VL) although they have to cancel my passport now and I cannot use it if ever there’s an emergency (I hope there isn’t any).
And for my long deserved vacation, I’m scheduling it come December. Less than 3 more months! I think I can handle the wait.

Well, it’s something I used to pass by daily on my way to and from work so basically it’s not of a big deal. But because of that opening, I was stuck in the traffic for almost 2 hours.
Well, that’s kinda unavoidable right? I just have to be proud that I was part of the opening – as one of the passerby. Haha.

I received this invitation today although I was already coerced by my BFF to attend months before. Nevertheless, I got pretty excited and actually looking forward to this Christmas Eve Party.
This is my 3rd Christmas away from home and as much as we would want to be with our families, we just have to accept our situation and make the most out of it. Anyway, the spirit of Christmas is in our hearts and no matter the distance it can still be transmitted in a lot of ways.
Done with the drama thing, I need to plan out my winter attire!

btw, it doesn’t snow in Dubai

Right now, it’s drizzling again. It has been a few days in this kind of weather. Not that I’m complaining because I love rains. I love waking up with the rain falling on the rooftops, classes being suspended (well it’s been a while since I was in school but I do skip work just to be in the mood), eat champorado (chocolate congee) then cuddle back to bed for a drama/ movie marathon. I would also like to play in the rain the last one was years back. Waah, I miss those times. So if I can complain, it would be that it is raining too little.
Rains here are very little and far in between, hey guys this is Middle East, but during the last few years those in the region have been experiencing occasional rains and even typhoons (Oman and Jeddah as examples). Before these are just plain deserts so they did not anticipate these downpours and their infrastructures are not equipped with proper drainage system. So even a few rains can actually flood an area. I guess now they are starting to upgrade their system. They should be.
Now let me enjoy a little drizzle.
Wait! I remember I still have this flu.
Too bad.
