Shoujo manga

I enjoy reading shoujo (romantic) manga, some are way cheesy and stupid but it makes me feel young (again) and believe in young love (no worries)…

but hey sometimes it still teach me a thing or two…

like for this scene…

If the future is uncertain

and the past is unforgettable

then embrace the present

you will naturally know

what to do…

I believe I will…naturally…

  • Turning Japanese

I really believe I was a Japanese girl in my past life…

With all these facinations with Japanese foods, Jdrama, anime, manga, video games – big time Otaku…

This month alone we ate 4x at Japanese restaurants, twice at Sumo, once at Agenomo and today at Yo! Sushi.

I also bought 5 volumes of my fave anime/ manga Skip Beat at Books by Kinokuniya.

Not to mention I watch anime and read manga online.

Wow I am really stuffed and fully satisfied with our dinner at Yo! Sushi, Dubai Mall.

I like their set-up where the different viands are placed in a conveyor belt and you just have to choose from there.

Good way to entice the customers to add more on their order.

Personally I couldn’t resist those maki and sushi moving in front of me.

Was not able to take pictures coz my phone was low bat.

So I just attached our bill for two. I tell you it was really worth it.

I love the desserts tiramisu and strawberry cheesecake!

Plan to pig out again at Yo! Sushi, SOON!

I haven’t explain what Otaku means. It is a japanese term used to refer to people with obsessive interests, particularly on manga, anime and video games. Well I’m guilty of those three.

    Anime is simply Japanese Animation.

My facination with Animes dated long way back, with Voltes V and Mazinger Z. As I child we used to role play the characters on those series. Gosh I feel old already but always young at heart!

Then followed later by Ghost Fighter, Flame of Recca and Slam Dunk. It has been quite a hit in local Philippine TV.

And don’t forget there’s also Pokemon, Doreamon and Yu-gi-oh!

Only lately I’ve learned that there are other kinds of anime aside from the usual action-packed adventure.

Now I’m into romance/ comedy dramas. Who would have thought they are also “nakaka-kilig” ?

Some of my favorites are: Itazura na Kiss, Nodame Cantabile, Vampire Knight and my latest and on-going Skip Beat.

There are also alot of websites where you can watch these animes. I’m particulary keen on this one

    crunchyroll

Here you can watch all anime you want (also asian dramas ) and participate in forums with fellow otakus. You would be suprised to how many and obsessed they are. I’m on the milder side (I’m glad!) since I have alot of other interests.

    A little trivia:

Almost all animes are based on mangas and some movies and tv/ drama series are spin-off from mangas and/ or animes.

Well, that’s a different blog topic I will cover on later.

  • “Manga” refers specifically to comics originally published in Japan.

The genre includes a broad range of subjects: action-adventure, romance, sports and games, historical drama, comedy, science fiction and fantasy, mystery, horror, sexuality, and business and commerce, among others.

The first manga i read was Fruit Basket, it tells the story of an orphan girl who learns that thirteen members of the Sohma family are possessed by the animals of the Chinese zodiac and are cursed to turn into their animal forms if they are embraced by anyone of the opposite sex. The title is quite confusing, but the story is really interesting and the drawings are so cute!

After which I really got hooked in reading manga. Good thing there are alot of websites that offers free on-line reader. I usually check these sites, when I say usually it means daily…what an addiction…

    onemanga

    boxmanga

There are sites that offers downloadable version for a fee…and i did subscribe for it for 2 months and downloaded all the manga i could…

    mangavolume

I’ve lost count of the mangas I’ve read…let’s try to remember some, those really good ones that I highly recommend…and of course these are romance/ shoujo mangas…

    Fruit Basket

    Skip Beat

    Vampire Knight

    Love Celeb

    Special A

I’ll do a separate blog for these mangas when I find time…

I really recommend reading mangas…it’s entertaining, relieves stress, makes you feel young among other things…
